2013 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Theory, Modeling and Simulation

On the morning of June 8, UESTC hosted International Modeling and Simulation Symposium on Electromagnetic Theory of 2013, with vice president Wang Houjun delivering the congratulatory speech. Prof. Hu Jun, partysecretary of Electrical Engineering School chaired the ceremony. The attendees also included NAE academician Weng Cho Chew from University of Illinois, IEEE fellow Nie Zaiping from School of Electrical Engineering, UESTC, and experts and scholars from reputed universities around the world.

Vice president Wang Houjun conveyed his deepest congratulations to the convention and extended sincere welcome to all the attendees. After a brief introduction to UESTC, he hoped this symposium would be a golden opportunity for the experts and scholars in this field to have academic exchanges and push the researches forward together. Wang also wished the meeting every success. Prof. Weng Cho Chew expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the fellows’ coming. In the past three decades, he said, China has gained sound and fast growth in science and technology, solidly supporting its economic growth. And this symposium, a platform for free exchanges, was expected to further foster the academic researches and boost technological development, making greater contribution to China’s construction drive. Following the opening ceremony, prof. Weng Cho Chew made the first report——Connection among Electromagnetic, Physics and Mathematics. And in the 2-day meeting, there would be in total 48 reports centering on electromagnetic theory, modeling and simulation. According to available sources, this symposium was also supported by UESTC’ 111 plan, Chinese Society of Computational Electromagnetic, and IEEE, Chengdu branch.
